How to identify the quality of tiles？

✔️Check the flatness of the tile paving

You can use an aluminum alloy square tube about 2m long (or other items that can be used as a ruler) on the pasted tile. If the tile surface can be tightly and seamless with the square tube, It's a very good tile.

✔️Check the remaining seams when laying the tiles

By visual inspection of the paved tiles, the remaining seams are perpendicular to each other, and the gaps are uniform, and the filling material between the seams is not overflowing or concave, and the seams between the closely-pasted materials should meet the requirements.

✔️Check whether there is any hollowing in the tile paving

Use a wooden stick or a wooden hammer to hold the wooden stick with two fingers. While walking, tap the center and four sides of each tile one by one.

Pro Tips: be sure to check after 3 days of tiling. If the percussion sound is an empty drum sound, it means that it is relatively real and there is no problem. If the empty drum reaches 1/3 of the tile, then the tile needs to be re-pasted, otherwise it will be easy to break or fall off later.

Precautions for tile laying

✔️Wall tiles

(1) During the basic treatment, all kinds of dirt on the wall should be cleaned up and watered one day in advance. For example, when the base layer is a new wall, when the cement mortar is 70% dry, the bricks should be arranged, stretched, and glued to the wall.

(2) The timetastic self adhesive mosaic wall tiles must be soaked in water for more than 2 hours before sticking, and the tiles should be taken out to dry for use.

(3) When laying and sticking, the pipelines, light switches, and supporting parts of toilet equipment must be cut and matched with the whole set of bricks, and it is forbidden to patch and paste with non-whole bricks.

✔️Floor tiles

(1) Tile should be soaked in water for half a day before use, as long as the brick body does not bubbling.

(2) The kitchen and bathroom should have a running water slope, no water accumulation, and no water backflow. If the original waterproof layer is damaged during construction, waterproof treatment must be done, and there is no leakage in the 12-hour test of accumulated water.

(3) After the floor tiles are laid, cover the brick surface with cardboard, etc., and walk on the brick surface at least 24 hours later.

Pro Tip: After 1 hour of paving, the cement, caulk or other sticky objects left on the brick surface should be wiped clean in time, because it is difficult to clean after 4 hours of adhesion of the caulk. After 12 hours of paving, the brick surface should be tapped for inspection, and if there is any empty drum sound, it should be re-laid. You can walk 24 hours after the completion of the tile paving, scrub thoroughly, mix the detergent with clean water, and thoroughly clean the tiles.
